received 36 months of OWF cash assistance have been afforded the
opportunity to realize selfsufficiency
in that time frame. Under ORC Section 5107.18, a County Department
of Job and
Family Services may declare up to twenty percent (20%) of the average
caseload during the prior
Federal Fiscal Year to be under a “hardship” and grant
such assistance groups exemption in order
to continue assistance. |

Community Action provides the administrative and programmatic oversight
for the renovation of homes, emergency home repair, and acquisition/rehabilitation
Home Energy Assistance Program
This program offers one-time emergency assistance for the payment
of utility bills for those facing the shut-off of utility service
during the winter heating season
Head Start Program
Ohio Heartland Community Action Commission Head Start (OHCAC) is
dedicated to providing income eligible children and families with
quality, comprehensive, developmentally appropriate programs that
strengthen families and promote self-sufficiency. The program operates
according to applicable regulations, utilizing trained staff, volunteers,
parents, and a combination of organizational and community resources
in an equitable and creative manner.
Literacy in Primary Schools
The program, operated in conjunction with school systems in Galion,
Bucyrus and Marion, offers direct one-on-one volunteer assistance
to children in an effort to improve the literacy skills of student
participants, during the school year. The program is funded through
both the federal and state RSVP network.
Retired Senior Volunteer
Program
RSVP Federal Programming - The program, funded by a grant from the
Corporation for National Service, coordinates programming in a variety
of local areas for retired and senior volunteers. Volunteers in
Marion and Crawford counties work at dozens of sites assisting in
medical, office, security, educational, and clerical volunteer positions.
RSVP State of Ohio Programming - This program, funded by a grant
from the Area Agency on Aging, is a complimentary program to the
national program coordinating volunteer programming in a variety
of local areas for retired and senior volunteers. The combined federal
and state funded programs deliver more than 44,000 volunteer hours
of service to Marion and Crawford Counties annually.
Weatherization Program
Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) - This program, funded
by the Ohio Department of Development Office of Energy Assistance
through grants from the Department of Energy and the Department
of Health and Human Services, provides up to $3,250 in home weatherization
material and labor in an effort to bring down the cost of heating
and cooling a home. The program operates in both Marion and Crawford
Counties. Applications are available at Commission offices throughout
the service area.

Disability Resources, inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization established
to promote and improve awareness, availability and accessibility of
information that can help people with disabilities live, learn, love,
work and play independently.
Who We Serve... We serve thousands of individuals with disabilities
through a multidisciplinary network of service providers and consumers.
In order to reach as many people with disabilities as cost effectively
as possible, we target our services and publications to libraries,
disability organizations, independent living centers, rehabilitation
facilities, educational institutions, and health and social service
providers.
What We Do... We disseminate information
about books, pamphlets, magazines, newsletters, videos, databases,
government agencies, nonprofit organizations, telephone hotlines and
on-line services that provide free, inexpensive or hard-to-find information
to help people with disabilities live independently. |

Choices is a non-profit child care resource & referral agency. We
provide FREE services to both parents & child care providers.
We also work to improve
the quality of child care through mentoring and technical assistance, increase
the amount of child care available in our area, and make training
available to families & providers in Crawford, Marion, Morrow,
and Richland Counties in Ohio.
Child Care Choices is staffed
with local people. We are parents with experience in the child care
