The
National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is a nonprofit, grassroots,
self-help, support and advocacy organization of consumers, families,
and friends of people with severe and persistent mental illnesses.
Their Mission Statement: "NAMI is dedicated to the eradication
of mental illnesses and to the improvement of the quality of life
of all whose lives are affected by these diseases."
Founded in 1979, NAMI today
works to achieve equitable services and treatment for more than
15 million Americans living with severe mental illnesses and their
families. Hundreds of thousands of volunteers participate in more
than one thousand local affiliates and fifty state organizations
to provide education and support, combat stigma, support increased
funding for research, and advocate for adequate health insurance,
housing, rehabilitation, and jobs for people with mental illnesses
and their families.
Local affiliates and state
organizations identify and work on issues most important to their
community and state. Individual membership and the extraordinary
work of hundreds of thousands of volunteer leaders is the lifeblood
of NAMI's local affiliates and state organizations. The national
office, under the direction of an elected Board of Directors,
provides strategic direction to the entire organization, support
to NAMI's state and affiliate members, governs the NAMI corporation,
and engages in advocacy, education and leadership development
nationally. |

VISION
Ohio's children and
families thrive and succeed within healthy communities.
MISSION
OFCF is a partnership of
state and local government, communities and families that enhances
the well-being of Ohio’s children and families by building community
capacity, coordinating systems and services, and engaging and
empowering families.
Family and Children
First Service Coordination is not affiliated with any single system,
but the results of service coordination impact family and community
outcomes across all systems through a collaborative, coordinated,
cross-system approach. The individual family service coordination
process is family focused and strengths based. FCF service coordination
provides the venue for families with multiple and complex problems
to effectively address their needs through a process that creates
a unique intervention/ treatment environment which eliminates
duplication and provides both traditional services and builds
natural supports.
