NEWS RELEASE
FROM THE
HIGHLAND COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OFFICE
April 23, 2009
$10 Brand Name medications - Never go without or split your pills
again
As a result of layoffs at the Wilmington Airpark and the general downturn
of the economy
causing many businesses to cut-back or close, thousands of Highland
County residents lost their
health and prescription drug coverage when they lost their jobs. People
in Highland County who
are uninsured can now receive medication for $10 per prescription
per month. There is no age
limit, no application fees, no other medication fees, and no hidden
costs.
Prescription Hope has been serving the uninsured population for over
8 years. They offer a
solution for uninsured and underinsured individuals, families, disabled
people, and seniors on
Medicare, to one of the most difficult problems in the health care
system today, providing
affordable access to prescription medication. "Through special
relationships with over 80 US based Pharmaceutical Companies, Prescription
Hope has access to over 1,500 Brand Name medications (no generics).
This is not a discount
card, or insurance product and excludes those with Medicaid,"
says Doug Pierce founder of the
company.
Patients receive their medications in a three-month supply directly
from the pharmaceutical
companies. Included are commonly prescribed medications for arthritis,
allergies, asthma, aids,
cancer, hypertension, depression and cholesterol.
With nearly 6,014 individuals in Highland County who cannot afford
their daily medication,
Prescription Hope is here to help. Eligible applicants cannot earn
more than $20,800 for
individuals or $31,000 for couples annually. Qualifications increase
with dependence in
household.
If you or anyone you know needs help affording the high cost of prescription
drugs or you are a
doctor's office, hospital, or clinic you are encouraged to call toll-free
1-877-296-HOPE (4673) or
go online to www.prescriptionhope.com to learn more about the program
and to download an
application. |
