The overall mission of the Van Wert County General Health District is to protect the health of the public and to prevent disease. To achieve this objective, the statutory duties of the local health department include services in the aforementioned district. These duties include: inspecting, licensing, treating, regulating, screening, and reporting activities concerned with public and private health matters as well as maintaining vital statistics. Public health services are provided to business establishments, public institutions, and individuals within the community.

Marsh Intensive Treatment

Program for treating adjudicated young male sexual offenders, ages 11 - 17.

THE MARSH FOUNDATION provides humane, effective behavioral health care to children, adolescents and their families in a variety of settings and modalities. From its beautiful campus situated in rural northwest Ohio, The Marsh Foundation has three residence halls allowing specialized treatment programs for children and adolescents based upon age and needs.

Our primary modality is the Teaching-Family model of care. The basic tenants of which are a three part system of care involving extensive training, 24 hour a day seven days a week supervision/support and regular evaluation of services for the quality of treatment being provided by the direct care and support staff.  The Marsh Foundation’s training and supervision staff average over eight and a half years of experience in working with children, adolescent and their families.

Our services include: specialized and regular group homes, semi-independent living, foster care, treatment foster care, sex offender specialized foster homes, group and individual counseling on site, residential stabilization program for adjudicated male adolescent sex offenders, home based family services, and family wraparound services.

Referrals for our programs are accepted from any source but most frequently from juvenile court systems, various county Department of Jobs and Family Services agencies, as well as individual families.

The Marsh Foundation Programs give youths and their families the opportunity to learn the basic skills needed to live successfully as a family, and for the youths to achieve vocationally and academically enabling them to become productive members of the communities in which they live.

Purpose Westwood Behavioral Health Center, Inc. is a private, non-profit community behavioral health center serving residents of Van Wert County and the surrounding areas, providing a comprehensive continuum of behavioral health care servcies. These are provided through prevention, intervention, counseling, case management and referrals to appropriate levels of service in a client-centered environment in a manner that enhances the quality of life and promotes human dignity. We believe that some of the conditions we address are preventable and that all are treatable with the appropriate support services and support systems.
