The
Friendship House is a social/recreational consumer drop-in
center located in Vinton County. It offers a welcoming, friendly
and cozy atmosphere where mutual peer support is highly valued.
It is consumer and family-oriented, and provides linkage assistance
to various service agencies in the area.
The Friendship House
prides itself on the variety of activities it offers to its members,
including fundraising events, cookouts, crafts, bingo, movies, community
trips, internet access, and free, family-style meals every Wednesday
evening. Hours of operation are: Monday and Friday, noon –
5pm, and Wednesdays from 1pm- 7pm.
Friendship House
has been open since September, 2002. Mental health consumers sit
on the Advisory Board, and consumers have direct input regarding
the frequency and types of activities offered. The Friendship House
welcomes and invites any interested mental health consumers to stop
by and check out what we have to offer! |

men 18 years old or over who are searching for answers, struggling
with addictions or just feel hopeless and lost.
The first step of this process is attending
an information session held every Tuesday at 10 am at headquarters.
This two hour overview will explain the Refuge and what you can
expect and what is expected of you. After this session you'll have
an opportunity for an interview with a staff member. A government
issued photo ID is required, pre-registration is not. |

a federally qualified health center, (FQHC) operates six community
health center clinics in the heart of Appalachia in Southcentral/Southeastern
Ohio. Offices are located in Chillicothe, McArthur, Logan, New Lexington,
The Plains, and Middleport. The center’s mission is to provide access
to affordable, high-quality health care without discrimination.
The clinic accepts clients who are Medicaid-eligible, underinsured,
uninsured, or privately insured. Payment is determined using a sliding
fee schedule based upon income. Clients are seen by appointment, and
the clinic tries to accommodate emergencies as quickly as possible.

The Corporation
for Ohio Appalachian Development (COAD) is a private, non-profit
community-based organization serving rural, mostly Appalachian,
counties in eastern and southern Ohio. It is comprised of seventeen
Community Action Agencies that serve a 30 county area. COAD has
three major program divisions: Community Development, Early Care
and Education and Senior Programs. COAD also offers scholarship
